speakers lost low end after stand mounting

Post by spanky54 »

Hello everyone!, :D my name is Spanky - I'm from N. Richland Hills, Tx ( suburb of Fort Worth ) and this is my 1st post. I have been reading and learning here for about 9 months and, I have learned alot. I already have a studio in my house ( a bed room is the control room with the closet the vocal booth and an ajoining living room is the live room ). In the future I will be redoing the control and vocal booth ( I will post dimentions later ) but, right now my question is about speakers. I have a set of mackie HR824's that I use for nearfields. I also have a set of jenson cs315's ( I'm sure not intended to be used for this purpose ) hooked up to a stereo in the control room that I had planned to use as ( at least for now ) as midfield monitors. The problem is that when I put them on stands to get them up like other monitors, they lost the low end. What happened and why and, can it be corrected easily. I hope I have included enough info to answer this question. Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,
Spanky :D

Thanks for the reply Roman, you are the 2nd person to tell me that and, after reading some links regarding speaker placement/ nulls, I think I finally see that there are definate problem areas. Apologies to all for not following the rules about posting all pertinent info - I really should have known better. I will re-post soon with drawings/measurements and then ask questions.
Thanks,
Spanky
