Room is Complete, Now how do I treat it??

Post by I Annoy »

I have spent over a year building my small studio and now have gotten to the point that I need to acoutically treat the space so I can start enjoying music again. I have spent hours and hours reading the forum and just when I think I know what i need to do I read another thread contradicting me.
So here it is, the room has nothing so far with the exception of laminate flooring that will go in next week. My plan is to have the mixing position at the far end of the room opposite the vocal booth. And I was hoping to sofffit mount my speakers other than that I am up for whatever you all think I should be doing.

1 note: the height of the room is 7 feet 5 inches and the yellow in the picture is actually a soffit covering duct work. it hangs about 10" from the cieling and is about 11" off the wall half way down the room and then about 23" the rest of the way

Aloha and welcome to the forum, Annoy

Perhaps something like this?
- Floor to ceiling corner traps in left, right front corners
- angled side wall absorbers left, right of mix poistion
- rear absorber
- cloud absorber

Thanks kendale, That is pretty much what I was thinking.
I was also planning on extending the cloud farther back on the ceiling.
The plan is also to build a soffit very similiar to yours to house the monitors and bass traps in the front of the room.

I am still trying to figure out a way to build bass traps in the rear of the room.

At least i know now that I am on the right track.

Thanks

Aloha,

These are the plans that I used (see attached) and a few pics of the result (about havlway down the page)

You could consider a corner trap at the rear wall/ceiling. (Just make sure that its mounted very securely.)

Hope this helps,
