Hey Guys!
I need to build bassabsorbers for my 4.5 x 6.5 m room and was thinking about the superchunk method. Now I have some concerns about using rockwool as i've been told it is really bad for your lungs.
So, has anybody ever heard about basotect? It seems to be some kind of acoustic foam, but will it be effective?
If not, what dimensions would you recommend for the footprints?
And, last but not least, I've noticed that there is a wide variety in rockwool products concerning weight and price. Would it be ok to go for a rather light product?
Thanks so much in advance!
Basotect

Hi Chris,
you can use Isover Acoustic TP 2 (Trennplatte 2) which is like Rockwool but has a different size.

It is better to use this instead of mineral wool because the plates are harder and will not bend.
Rockwool is (in Germany) 60 cm x 100 cm, but Isover is 60 cm x 120 cm. So if you use the Isover you get 4 triangled pieces from on plate, simply cut the plate in half and then across the halves. (This way you will get triangles with 60x60 and 85 diagonaly).
None of these contains aspest, but cover them with fabric anyway.
Grüße, Harald
