Is this a good product?

Hey all,

Quick question on a product I found, first off it is not listed in bob gold coefficients or elsewhere regarding acuostics and I wanted a pro opinion, seems to be similar to Roxul 1240

I will be using it for floor to ceiling superchunk bass traps and it is called IIG 1240 (4" thick) Indistrial board (Mineral Wool) It is manufactured by Intelegent insulation group which is a joint venture with Johns Manville

at 1/3 octave

125 = 0.88
250 = 1.14
500 = 1.17
1000 = 1.08
2000 = 1.06
4000 = 1.10
NRC = 1.10

It is 43 cents a sq/ft

Is this a good product for my needs?

43cents a square foot at 4" thickness? A fantastic price! The material is roughly equivalent to 703 in acoustic properties. For superchenks I would use the 1230, being lighter density and more appropriate for spupchenuk type application.

Where did you find it at 43cents? (address, phonenumber)
I assume the 1230's are typos, and what you're actually getting is 1240.

I am not certain as to whom the above is directed to, however I am the one who introduced "1230" in this topic. I took the product number from the pdf on page one where it is written:

Is the 1230 best because it is 3pcf, all they carry is the 1240 which is 2" thick and 4pcf.

It's difficult to give a complete answer without geting into a fair of acoustics, so bearing that in mind, the short answer is:

The 3 pcf is the reason. For what you are doing, either would be fine.
