Guys,
A bit OT but maybe someone can help.
I brought a wall plate for my studio that was taken out of an old facility. It was $70 compared with $500 getting a new one made and has about the right number of plugs and headphone sends.
The XLR female plugs on this plate are "Cannon" brand.
It is getting wired up next week and I noticed last night for the first time that modern "Neutrick" style connectors are really, really hard to push in.
Once in the are in they are even harder to get out!!
Is there anything I can spray into/onto these older connectors to give them a new lease of life. I am sure they will work fine once wired up but you really have to push and pull extreamlly hard to get plugs into them and out of them. I installed two extra channel of modern Neutrick connectors and these work fine. It's almost like the modern XLR's male plugs are just a bit to big!!. I also noticed the little "push" buttons on these plugs are really sticky and are hard to get a decent "click into place" out of.
I know it's really OT but does anyone have any ideas. Is there a spray like CRC I can use to get them greased up and working better?
I will be plugging and unplugging mics leads into these alot and I am worried that the force I have to use to get plugs in/out will damage the cables/connectors plus it's a real pain in the butt!!
Thanks
JohnG
