Hello all,
Great site, I hope someone can help with my room.
I have just built a control room that is 25 feet wide by 20.5 feet deep with a sloping ceiling that is 10 feet at the lowest point sloping up to a 13.5 ft. height at the rear. My monitors are both soffit mount and nearfeilds and the mix position is tword the front of the room with the 25 ft width being from side to side. The distance from the back wall to the mix position is 11 ft.
My question of course is do I use a whole lot of 703/705 on the front wall and kill all the reflections keeping the back of the room fairly live or leave the front wall fairly reflective and place a bunch of 703/705 on the back wall and sides minimizing the 22ms. rule.
I was going to build a bookcase (4 X 10) on the back wall for diffusion but beacuse of the 11 ft. distance I am considering 703 instead and damping it .
I will put approx 125 sq feet of 705 on the ceiling for damping and bass traping in a cloud type attachment.
I also have approximatly 7 low bass traps and 7 low mid bass traps (ethans) installed.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom
Front wall dead or front wall live?

Tom,
Welcome!:D
Can you elaborate on your drawing a little and indicate where the speakers are mounted?

FRONT & BACK WALL WITH BASS TRAPS
The bass traps can be faced with 703 (lifted off the membrane) if necessary, shimming and not damping the membrane. I am anticipating having to do this maybe on many of the traps. All ear to wall distances are between 10 and 12 feet in one direction, giving a total of between 20 and 24 feet round trip. I would like to keep as much wall surface exposed as the paint is being applied in multiple colors.
Thanks for any input

Tom,
Pictures look cool.
Your drawing doesn't seem completely to scale. The way you drew the front has the speaker axes crossing 16' from the front wall. This also doesn’t seem to jive with the pictures. What's the width of the front wall and distance between the speaker soffits? Is it built such that the speaker axes cross 11' from the rear wall like you mentioned before?
Thanks.
Thomas
