Looks like termites were an issue there until recently.
In other (bad) news, my wife was in a car accident today. Nothing too serious -- she was rear-ended while at a red light. The car is probably totalled though.
Let's wish Mrs. Sharward a quick recovery from what is bound to be a very painful day tomorrow. Hopefully the drugs she was prescribed at the emergency room will help with that...

Thanks for the well-wishes folks... Yeah, the 'ryche sticker is from the fan club as I recall... I can't imagine it looking like anything but crap if I tried to salvage it.
Perhaps I'll offer to have a custom 'ryche symbol done on her new back window like my Dream Theater logo -- which is actually a piece of silver tint custom cut and then the entire window is covered in 20% smoke black tint...

She's in the LA-Z-BOY in the family room watching movie previews at the moment... She's stiff but not in any pain. Then again, she remembers what happened four years ago and is taking it very easy.

I wanted to share a friend's experience with getting rear-ended. She felt fine....insurance rep comes to the house with company checkbook/lowball offer...friend takes the offer.
Years later, still has chronic back pain - requiring weekly chiropractor visits.
Moral: back injuries often don't show up right away....DON'T TAKE THE LOWBALL OFFER!

The risk of this being a total loss is high. We won't know until next week at the earliest.

Hey Sharward, I've been reading through this awesome thread. I haven't read the entire content (I plan to - lots of info) so I have a few quick questions:
1) What are you using to create your illustrations?
2) Why are you escavating (increase ceiling height)?
I am in the planning stages of converting my detached garage into a recording studio. Much behind you but my goals are the same: Freedom to create noise at any time of day without bothering anyone.

The excavation is in preparation for an isolated slab. See this thread for a fairly brief background into that decision.

So you don't recomment Visio? Whatever you're doing with it is producing great results. Do you have any other programs in mind that would be better?
Man, you are going full board with the isolated slab. What made you decide to do that? If you're garage was detached and say at least 20 feet away from any other building would you still need to isolate the slab?
