Trying to make broadband panels for control room

Post by Big3rd »

I'm finally done with my control room and I'm ready to make panels. I was going to go with the plans Ethan had that addressed high bass, deep bass trapping, and of course the high/mid absorber. With those plan in mind, I don't know how I should incorporate the two different bass traps in my three corners (the pics will explain). Do you build the trap as follows, from top to bottom: High bass, deep bass, high bass, deep bass (in an alternating fashion, a foot and half at a time, assuming the trap is 6' tall)? My ceiling is 7' high and I was also wondering if it was necessary to build a trap that's from floor to ceiling in all the corners.

What about a 2X4 trap in all corners? I'd plan on doing all panels in 2'X4' fashion. Is that OK?

In one of my corners, a floor/ceiling trap is not possible anyway because it has the furnace exhaust pipe in the way (pics will explain). ImageImage
As far as panel placement, this was suggested to me (3rd picImageand I modified it because I wanted to save space. (4th pic)Image[/img][/img]

So am I on the right track and can someone explain the construction of the broadband bass traps to me?

I'm here. I guess the others are on vacation. :)

My Bass Trap Plans article explains the proper way to place the system of high and low bass traps around a room:

As for broadband absorbers, there's little to do. You get some rigid fiberglass panels, wrap them with fabric, and hang 'em up.
