Heh - tell me about it! The quote I received some time ago for 5/8" gypsum panels was precisely $8 for 4x8, $10 for 4x10, and $12 for 4x12! That amounts to exactly 25¢ per square foot per layer, regardless of panel size -- how convenient! :) (Of course the prices have probably gone up since then... )

Actually around here HD had a price of $7.45 per 5/8 4x8 sheet the other day -

Speaking of Co-Inky-Dinks tho, check out my edit on the panel weight link,

http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... =6306#6306

regarding glass; did all these fancy calculations (had to hit the X key and everything  ) only to realize that a 4x8 sheet of 3/8" thick material is EXACTLY ONE CUBIC FOOT - :?

I met with the acoustical engineering firm yesterday morning. Good first meeting. They do not believe I need to float a floor (Yay!) and they agree that the "dig out and pour new isolated floor" is a winner. I hope to have more information next week, and I'll keep y'all posted!

Aw-RIGHTY then, sounds like progress is imminent - :D

That is, unless your "acoustical engineering firm" goes by the name of "Bob's Dig Out And Pour New Isolated Floor, Inc." - In which case I'd be looking for signs of a minor conflict of interest...

I'm jealous, the price in Calgary of 5/8 4X8 drywall is about $15...

Factoring in the exchange rate, that's about 50% higher than I can get it here ($8 for 4x8 as of a couple of months ago).

Have you shopped around for a better price?

Hey Keith, I finally decided to take pity on you; like the new avatar any better? Only ONE eye on you, and even it's nearly closed...

I love the new avatar, Steve! :D I'm a big-time "cat person." 8)

You must have been inspired by my avatar change! Hmmmmmm?

Of course, now you have to adjust your attitude to be in line with your new image... Now that will be a challenge, I'm sure! ;)

Shouldn't be a problem;

Rule 1 - Cats are right, it's just everybody ELSE who's wrong -

Rule 2 - The entire world is meant to revolve around cats (just ask one :=) -

Rule 3 - When in doubt, see rule #1...

Now, 'splain to me again which parts of said attitude need re-alignment ??!?

I would argue the points, but rule #1 prohibits me from questioning rule #1! ;)

8) 8) 8) Woo-hoo! 8) 8) 8) 10,000 views! 8) 8) 8)

Nothing like a little mindless chatter between Steve and me to inflate the hit count on my thread!
