rubber / spring / floating floor

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

rubber / spring / floating floor

Post by Hendrik »

Hi,
I found this somewhere:
One thing few cover on floating floors - rubber is a spring. Springs ONLY act like springs when they are NOT at the ends of their travel. When they ARE at the ends of their travel, they are NOT resilient at all, and could just as easily be THROWN AWAY.
Ok, I understand that, but can I put to many rubbers under my wood floor frame? Is it also a problem, when the "spring" is NOT at the beginning of their travel?

Whould be cool, if someone can clear that up for me.

Thanks in advance.

Guten Tag, Hendrik!

Yes, that is correct. That is why I invested in having a machine/fabrication shop test my EPDM rubber to determine how much weight it can hold.

So, yes, it is possible to have too much of a good thing.

You found what is arguably one of the most important pieces of information here.
