Auralex Foam

Post by kidego32 »

Hi guys,

I have a bunch of Auralex 2" square (24"x24") foam available for use and was wondering if I should place them flat against the walls or spaced about 2" from them?

If spacing is better (I'm assuming it is), what are some of the mounting methods I should consider?

Thanks,

Jules

Jules, Auralex themselves are now selling "pro panels" which include some foam blocks to space them off the walls - they just use their "tube tack" and glue.

If yours are sculpted, you'd be better turning them so the flat side is out, it improves the apparent thickness. Generally, 2" material should be spaced 2" off the wall... Steve

Thanks Steve,

Yes, mine are sculpted. I also have some of their rectangular 2"x6" (aprox.) foam sticks. I'll probably cut those into small pieces and attach them at the corners, so they provide the spacing.
