Formaldehyde Free MDF

Find out where to get building materials in your local area. If you find a good outlet post it and others will be able to access it through the search engine.

Formaldehyde Free MDF

Post by barefoot »

Here's a map for locating US and Canadian distributors of SierraPine Medex formaldehyde free MDF. http://www.sierrapine.com/Content/terri ... efault.htm

This is an excellent product. I use it to build speakers and it's every bit as good, if not better than regular MDF - plus it's better for your health. The only drawback is it's about 40% more expensive. Well worth it from my perspective.

I urge everyone to seek out healthier and "greener" materials for their projects!

**Btw, all engineered wood products like MDF, plywood, chip board, etc. contain formaldehyde unless they explicitly state otherwise. Formaldehyde causes cancer and it continually off gases from these products. Pressure treated lumber contains arsenic and should never be used indoors. Personally I would also not use it to build play structures for small children.
