hey guys.
I made the mistake of not using a resilient channel in my new control room in the basement. When I pound on a 24" bass drum, I can barely hear it outside of the room when I'm in the basement, upstairs however is a completely different story. I feel like i'm still in the room when I;m upstairs. My ceiling construction is as follows:
1. Carpeting above
2. Existing 1st floor underlayment
3. Joist insulation roughly 14 inches of the pink stuff
4. 5/8" drywall.
I didn't think I'd need the resilient channels, so I didn't bother. But now I'm thinking I should have used them. My ceiling height right now is 7'6" from the concrete floor. I plan on putting another layer of 1/2 inch drywall on my ceiling and walls.
Is there any hope for containing the bass drum (or at least attenuating to some degree) givin these conditions?
Thanks for your help
Brandon.
