Hi All...
I'm planning on building a series of 703/Ply traps - Deep Bass, Hi-Bass & Mid-Hi absorbers from the Ethan Winer plans...
My problems are limited wall space & that the ceiling and some of the walls will probably not tolerate the weight of a larger trap. (Drywall over furring with no room for toggle bolts on 2 of the walls for example)
So, realizing that the larger the trap the more absorption, would I be wasting my time building smaller traps? Say, 1'x4' and 2'x4'? It occurs to me that I'd also have little to no material waste with those dimensions as well...

2' x 4' traps work OK - cutting that down to only 1' would (I think, haven't tried it though) be a waste of time and materials - the panel needs to "work" in order to accomplish any energy transfer.
You can do a lot in a room simply by placing thick material across the corners; I would look at that option FIRST, then maybe some tuned (panel) traps for any low modal problems... Steve

sounds like a plan... i'll deal with the corner treatments first and then deal with what, if any, issues arise... it's a small, odd-shaped room (maybe 300 S.F.) with 7 1/2 foot ceilings, so i see the panel traps maybe going in eventually, but thanks for the 'first things first' reminder and the tip on the trap size.
