NewAudio "Spatial One"

Post by Jim Blackfoot »

I just got a pair of these puppies. I'm very impressed with the top end immeadiately. The low end seemed quite boxy at first but day by day it's getting better. I was told it would settle after a few hours of playing. It's more like a fifty now & still settleing. These are locally made by Joseph Hayes. Has anyone else had experience with these or comments on speakers settleing in?

Spatial Ones

Hi Jim,

I know it's a while since you asked about these Spatial Ones. I have a full 5.1 (spec d) set and I think they are incredible. I'm guessing you've solved the 'settling in' by now, But I actually found placing the sub in a back corner just next to a sofa eliminated some low mid problems, but I also found that the crossover was really responsive and this took a bit of fiddling, but when you nail it, it's awsome.

I find the idea of the tweeter being able to spread rather than be directional makes it easier for mixing projects - especially when there's many people involved in the process. Initially I was concerned about the image being lost but I find it's clearer as the highs aren't picking into my forehead and forcing me to shut them out!!!!

I've also found a good test is to leave the room and listen to a mix from the next room or down a corridor. Since all the frequencies are generally spread you can get a better perspective that your mix is going well.

Do you use Joseph's beams with the set up? They are purposely designed to work with the speakers giving you an even placement in front and behind. I actually hang these bars from the ceiling so you can raise or lower the speakers if needed. Since the speakers don't actually touch any surfaces helps. I think these speakers are brilliant, extremely clean, zero noise, incredibly responsive and they look great also. Cheers, Big Phil :)
