What kind of Door?

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

What kind of Door?

Post by gdgross »

Guys,

I have pretty much figured out everything in my rehearsal room/studio except the door. I do not have space for a double door, so I want to get as good isolation as I can from a single door.

Does anyone have recommendations for commonly available doors (pre-hung preferrably) from lowes or HD. Obviously I want solid-core and as heavy and well-sealed as I can get.

Thanks!
Geoff

A normal type door in and of itself is lousy for sound isolation. Read this Installing a Door from the reference section at the top of this forum for a good start.
