Foating Floor & Walls Over Concrete

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Foating Floor & Walls Over Concrete

Post by Xaos »

I plan on floating walls and floor in my basement CR. How do you (or do you at all?)secure the walls to the floor and ceiling? Also, does the floor truly float over the neoprene without being secred to the concrete below? I know nothing about building, so help is greatly appreciated!

If you go to the REFERENCE section (in this forum) at the top of the page, you'll find several really useful threads on this and other subjects - there's a TON of info on building, materials, what goes where and why, etc -

Once you've read through the first 3 or 4 links on that REFERENCE page, you'll know enough to ask more specific questions, or to clarify things you didn't understand - don't be discouraged, there's a LOT to learn and it won't happen overnight... Steve

(IF it DOES happen overnight, please don't TELL me - that would be very depressing... :=(
