Hello, everyone.
Since this is my first post here, thanks John for providing such an excellent resource!
I am beginning construction next month to create a second floor in a building I had constructed recently. The building is 32'L X 24'W x 18'H with an open gable roof putting the peak at 22'.
The second floor will start life as one open space maintaining the open gable, have 8' walls and a 12' peak running the length of the building. I haven't even decided on stairs (probably spiral to conserve floor space) and there are no windows yet.
There's not much of a problem with noise either escaping or entering from the outside, so isolation isn't terribly critical.
This will be primarily my personal studio to record my own music, and continue my voiceover business. I don't plan to record bands or even more than one or two people at a time. I use a DAW for tracking and mixing using a control surface.
My first big decision, really, is whether to build a separate live room and control room, or build out one large room. I'd like to do this right (or as right as I can) the first time around.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated. And I will take pictures and document the entire construction process to finish. Have room for one more project on your website, John?
Thanks.
