there are monitors specific for some kind of music. For example, I wanna record rock bands usually, and I'm trying for this monitors: Dynaudio BM6a, Mackie HD824, Genelec 1031, and KRK v8.
Any advice for rock music monitors?
Dynaudio, genelec, krk, mackie, for rock music

I personally don't think that monitors should be tailored to a specific music style. They should be accurate and as possible. And you should buy the best monitors you can afford.
Even with regard to loudness, I believe it's best to monitor at a calibrated level. Bob Katz has excellent information on his website regarding this issue. http://www.digido.com/portal/pmodule_id ... page_id=59 A louder monitor then only has the advantage in better representing the musical dynamics, rather than simply monitoring louder. Of course, louder can also be better if you simply want to turn it up now and then and rock out - or impress you customers.

Just read that Bob Katz proposal. I Love it. Oddly I have been implementing something similar to that for the past 2 years (trial and erro adjustments.)
Great read. Adding it to the Library. At this rate I'll ne a filing cab just for these reads. LOL
Peace....

Personally, I'd agree with the Dynaudios, given that specific group of speakers.transformer wrote:ive tried the dynaudios and mackies...to my ears the dynaudios win.
the makies dont have enough information in the mids..which is where its at for rock
I'd also listen to the smaller Questeds and the Earthworks monitors, both of which I like better than the ones listed. Although I only have casual experience with the KRK's.
