OK, so I'm going to need speaker stands for my mixing monitors. What do I look for? Any obvious no-no's? Should I build them myself? Constructing tips?
Cheers

In my experience speaker stands don't make much difference in the sound unless they're very poorly made.
I recall seeing somewhere on Homerecording.com a design that used PVC pipe filled with sand and capped off with plywood. The pipe was connected to the plywood using toilet flanges. A simple, sturdy and cheap design.
Here it is. http://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread ... let+flange

stands
I bought my stands from a guy who builds them himself. He does a very nice job. Take a look.
