improving "live" room acoustics

Post by lowswing »

check out my studio plan:
http://www.lowswing.de/05plan/plan.html

the studio is working very well and very successful, this is about time to invest money on the recording room acoustic to make the studio even better.
let me discribe it:the west wall is plaster wall the east one is covered brick wall they are parallel, the ceiling is cs. 3.4m high and paralel to the wooden floor.
i guess what i really want is a wall units to fit on the parallel walls, hopfully from wood to give the room more "woody" character. does anyone have a plan or idea what can i do/build?
what to do with the celing (it is build from gypsum boards there for cant hold very heavy things attached to it)? i'm getting flutter echo on some points in the room .
thanx
guy
ps the r60 calculator suggested i have o.7sc reverb in the room, i think it is double as long, would be nice to cut it down a little.

the dimenisions of the green room (the live room i'm trying to improove):
W6mXL5.5mXH3.4m than there is the small extention of the room it is ca. 3.8X2.2 with the same ceiling hight (3.4).
the floor is wooden one celing ,left wall and control room wall are drywalls, right and winows wall are plaster on brick.
I really need help here.
btw How much would it cost aprox. the cover the right and left walls with wall unit as your design or with variable traps like you had on left-bank piano room ,john?

Guy, another one that "got lost" - if you don't get an answer to your questions in less than a week, you should "bump" your thread back to the top - that way, it doesn't get lost and forgotten. (Just post again, you can just type "bump" in the text box - eventually we'll get to it. There are only four of us who moderate here, and all of us have day jobs and projects, etc, so things can get a bit hectic)

As to costs, this is a hard one to answer - you would need to find the materials locally and price them, since costs around the world vary so wildly. If you're building these yourself, and already have the necessary tools, then your cost is whatever the materials cost you. If you're having them built, you should show the plans to your builder and ask for an estimate; labor costs are also very different for different locations around the world.

Check out a few of your other posts, I came across a couple that were back in April... Steve
