Fixing Position

Hi all, would it be detrimental to the design of Johns corner slot resonator to move the box off the wall corners around 6 inches?
The reason I need to move the trap off the wall is due to the depth of my soffit mounts, which are deeper than the trap.
The plan was to add bass trapping below the monitors and low-mid above.
Any thoughts?

Build the trap deeper. It will only work better.
