Would anyone know if these are effective, or would it be too much of a compromise given the holes that would obviously need to be cut in the sound treated wall (double layer pb with green glue)... I know that's usually a big no-no.

I am debating whether to go with surface mounted boxes or the above. I don't have a problem with surface mounted, but it's more a space issue than an aesthetic one, given proximity of things to walls, and with the above, I can get the sockets near flush. If I'm SIGNIFICANTLY compromising my sound treatment by doing this though, I will just go with the surface mount option.

Who knows? Without data we are blind. The seem like a decently thick device. But how is it attached to the wall? And what about wires?
In venues sometimes the sockets are in wells sunk into the stage.
