Funky Room - Some Help in deciding where to start setting up

Post by MicTailor »

Hey guys first post, hope I do this right!

I am in the very beginning stages of setting up my new home studio...as in I just moved in yesterday. I do already have a pair of yamaha hs8s. I have yet to buy any furniture.

I figure im going to need a couple of speaker stands, a desk obviously and then start investing in absorption materials.

I have beautiful red carpet...for better absorption of course.

What is stumping me right now is the fact that my room is just so oddly shaped. Its an A - Frame attic space, so I know sound waves will focus at the peak, also its not a straight even shot down the room. The ceiling apex shifts about halfway through and theres about a 3-4.5 ft overhang from the un even ceiling. I'll provide pictures. Also right wall is shorter than left wall.
My questions are...
Should I set up my speakers along the back wall, the issue there is the door prevents me from placing my speakers centered with the room.

Or

Should I set up on one of the long walls, and if so the taller one or the shorter one?

Currently im leaning towards setting it up on the left wall (the 6ft one)

Thanks for your help!

That is a very very tricky room. I cant even think of how to make that room work. Ideally you want to shoot your speakers down the long length of the room. That's about all I can say about that room right now.

It appears that you've made the mistake most people do. You started building without consulting this forum.
