Hi - I'm building a studio in an existing post facility in Toronto. They've been sending audio out and the plan is to start doing some of it in house.
I've read the forums, a few books, and checked out this forum.
I read the guidelines here but haven't posted a floor plan etc. as I'm not looking for design help right now, just a referral to someone who can help me get started.
I know what I want to build, but I need some help dealing with things like:
- the sprinklers in the existing room
- the HVAC system
- getting permits etc.
None of the books or forums really cover this (or I'm too dumb to figure it out).
What I need is someone that I can pay to help me get started on these issues. I'll be building the room with the help of the other partners in the post house, but the above three issues needs to get resolved first.
Make sense?
So, can anyone recommend persons who do this in the Toronto, ON, Canada area?
I'm not trying to get out of the work of doing the floor plan, and have one done in Sketchup that I could post, but I don't see the point if I'm not going to be able to get past the above hurdles anyway.
Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
thanks,
dave

Hi Dave,
maybe contact the city's building office (usually town hall) to ask them about the permits needed and so on. the building inspector will often be able to point you to the forms and provide guidance on the type of people you need to do the work (although if this is your home, you may be allowed to do a bunch of the work yourself).

typically you'll need building, electrical, and permits for HVAC and possibly plumbing.

Bye James! Your spam didn't even last 5 minutes. All that work of filling out a complete profile and writing a spam post reply to a TWELVE YEAR OLD THREAD... totally wasted. Did you REALLY think you could spam the forum?jamesshorff wrote:One of my friends hired [SPAM REMOVED] architecture, they had done a great job for her home.
