Finally found the time to upload my pictures. So here we go :D :D : A view on the Soffits painted with the first reflection isolation on the left and the right. In the middle of the soffits, another panel of isolation :

And now, ladies and Gentlemen, the finished room pictures:

Room right picture.jpg

Don't know why the first 2 are angled 90°, but you get the idea I suppose.

I'm really happy with the result, and certainly am very glad I went through the big effort of building this room. It sounds amaising, very detailed. It's so easy to mix in this room, and is so satisfying when I listen to music in there.

I want to thank everybody on this forum, and especially Stuart, that helped me a lot in this build. This forum is gold when building a good sounding room.

Cheers!

One last post today on my build thread:

As I already posted some time ago, I started my own youtube channel since October last year (2017). It's called Me(n)tal Twist Covers. One's a month, I upload a metal cover of a song. And if gives a very good view on my studio!

You can always check it out following this link:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0Nxer ... wMGqN1OYWA

This is my latest cover, "I'm on fire" from Bruce Springsteen. It turned out kinda heavy, but I'm very happy with the result: https://youtu.be/lLcz5o9CSWU

I hope I can convince some metal heads on this forum to subscribe  :D :D .
Cheers,
Dirk.

Dirk, that place looks REALLY nice! Some excellent workmanship there. So there's one thing I needed to do for you: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... 923#p40923 Right at the top of the list! :thu:

   :thu: Thanks! Glad it worked out for you!

It would be great if you could do some final REW tests in your room, and post those. If you want, also post the original, very first tests you did in the empty room, and I'll prepare some graphs that show the huge difference, so folks can see what you have achieved. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the way the low end of your spectrum ended up, especially considering the very small size and very complicated shape of your room! I'd love to do those graphs, if you'll take the time to do the tests. I'm sure you already know how to do this, but I recently wrote up a procedure for how to do REW tests, in case you are interested: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... =3&t=21122 .

Hey Stuart,

Woow, Thanks for adding me in that list. I was secretly hoping for it :D :D . This makes me a proud man!

Yes, it was indeed not easy to create this room. These angled walls are a pain in the ... because I didn't have 6 walls to deal with, but 8... So off course the theory still applies, but gets even more complicated with these angled walls. And in the build it's also complicating things. Making those soffits was the most difficult thing I ever build in my life. Just figuring out how to get them aligned to be mirrors of each other took me more than a whole day... But I did it :)!

Anyway, I still had the file with all my measurements on my computer, so here it is: I only kept, as you requested, the first and final measurement:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-GyUY ... sp=sharing

Already made some graphs myself, but I'm sure you can say a lot more about these than I can :). What I know for sure, is that the dip in the first measurement for about 67Hz, is almost completely taken car of by the VPRS that I build:

Have fun with it! I'm looking forward to your analysis.

Sorry! I hadn't seen your response, until just now.

Wow! That's some pretty darn nice improvements! For that size room, and with that shape, it's VERY very good! Well done, and congratulations. :thu: :thu:

I have to say that you have done one hell of a job there. It looks great, and it is performing spectacularly.

(It would still be possible to improve the response a little more, it you really wanted to . . . :) )

Thank you Stuart for those kind words. I'm just very glad that I found this forum, found tons of info on it and had the help I got (mostly from you). It was a very satisfying journey for me. I think I started reading and studying on the subject about 8 years ago!

For the improvements, you can always give me some suggestions!

In the meantime, I'm really enjoying my 'mancave' for listening and creating music. I even sit here when I'm working from home (telework) and in the 'background' I listen to some sweet metal :D  :D :D !

Cheers,
Dirk.
