Small size vocal booth recommendations

Post by Gwynbleid »

Hello everyone,

this is my first thread. I’m about to build up my vocal booth. It will be used chiefly for a voice-over. The room I want to use is pretty small 1.6 m x 2m and 2.4 m high. There is a small window opposite the wooden door. The ceiling is made of Styrofoam tiles, please see the picture. The wall on the right is a solid wall made of brick, the left one the same but someone (I only rent this place) put the plaster on it. In the past of few weeks I’ve been reading a lot about vocal booth building, but I am still confused. Could you please advise me:

Should I build a room within a room with a 4’’ mineral wool and 4’’ space from the walls and ceiling?

Hi. Please read the forum rules for posting (click here). You seem to be missing a couple of things! :)

Hello again. I am sorry for a late response and apologize for not obeying the rules for posting on forum. I’ve updated my location. I live in a small town near Neuchatel in Switzerland. The room is located at the back of the 3 floor tenement house and it is on the 2nd floor. The window, which you can see on the picture above, opens to the garden. The wall on the left hand side has no party wall. Behind the right wall there is a next house which is empty most of the time. No one lives there, but someone mows the huge garden from time to time. In the front of the door is some kind of hallway with windows. No one lives above or under in this part of the building. The area is quiet, the neighbours too. The walls are quite thick -made of double brick. The floor is sitting on concrete, which is partially tiled. Please see the floor plan below. As I mentioned above I would like to use this place for a voice-over. My budged is pretty short 500 – 1000 Francs, which is equivalent of 500-1000 Euros. All the necessary work I will do on my own, I love DIY. I will be very grateful for any suggestions. Thank you in advance.
