Quick question about silencer box placement

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Quick question about silencer box placement

If you don't need very high levels of isolation then you can design a silencer box that has some type of thick wooden "sleeve" that goes through both leaves but without touching them mechanically: decoupled with highly flexible caulk. But if you need good isolation, the you need a box on each penetration.
This box has to attach somewhere... how would one put this box between the leaves without mechanically touching one or the other?

Thanks!

Isolation mounts. For example, rest it on Sorbothane or Neoprene pads. Do the math to make sure it "floats".
