Derrimut Street Studio Ongoing Construction.

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Hi John,

Thanks for making me aware of the alternative clouds. However, since I am one of the few around modeling my studio on the inside outside design, which type of "friendly" cloud do you think I should use?

As I have seen some wonderful designs on this site, I am wondering would you personally have a preference, considering the type of music I'm recording, Jazz, Blues, Rockish or does it not matter?

cheers
Mike :D

Mike - if the ceiling above you is angled you can use the straight thru cloud, but if it's a flat ceiling use the hard backed cloud and angle it.

Hi John

Kool, my ceilings are all angled, so when the time comes for treatment I'll be using a straight through cloud....

Would four inches thick be enough, then cove it with 18 oz hessian. there some nice stuff around as hemp is very expensive.

Hi all

I have a question?

1. My control room is the inside/outside design and is 4.5 length by 3.3 width and is 2.8 at the highest point
2. In the rear window cavity (see picture) it is slightly to one side and not between the speakers, does this really matter, in terms of treatment? ie
diffusion

Did you fill that cavity with absorption? If so, then no problem. The lack of symmetry back there is not an issue, in that case.
