Radiant Cooling

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Radiant Cooling

Post by emkays »

Hi everyone. Just curious if anyone has had any experience with Radiant (in floor specifically) cooling in our favourite studio spaces. I'm currently battling/figuring out the tradeoffs related to duct sizing for Ventilation and Air Conditioning. I realized that the existing Radiant (currently heating only) infrastructure could take some of the load off that and allow me to get away with slightly small duct sizes (and everything down the line). The square footage of my live room area is nearly 900 ft2, so at an efficacy of around 12BTU/hr/ft2, that's nearly a tonne of latent load it could handle. A lot more figuring out to do on my part and this becomes a much more complicated HVAC solution but am just curious to hear from anyone out there.
