Hi all ..need some advice on studio design
Hi all ..Just found this forum ..have been enjoying it very much ..Graet stuff..
anyway I'm after some ideas on the space I've included with this post.. any feedback would be much appreciated.
The walls are all solid concrete block except for the alcove part at the end where the doors are. The ceiling is just the upstairs floor structure bearers joists etc.. and to the under side of which I have just over 2.400 M
I'm not sure if I've got enough space for a seperate control room..I want to be able to record a drum kit and so on.. blah blah..
Anyway thanks in advance for your ideas
Thanks

John, is there a way to make the geometry work if you rotated the control room 90 degrees (taking into consideration a smaller console and perhaps no in-wall mains), then using the "alcove" are as a vocal/iso booth and using sliding glass for LOS between the bottom right drum room? Perhaps I'll download smartdraw and draw it up, but I think you understand already.
Byrdsworth, do you use only nearfields? How large is your console (desk)?

Hi Again...thanks John for your drawing ..much apreciated...
I've added a new drawing ...it's similar to the design of funkys studio
I really want to be able to record a drum kit ..so I'm going to get a mates kit and see how it fits into the space...and then take it from there..
Macross ...thanks for your input too.. it all helps the room you thought was the drum room unfortunatly is'nt part of the studio.... sorry if the drawing was misleading..
My set up is fairly modest so I could get away with a smaller control room ..hopefully
anyway a well thought through plan is allways the best option ..
Thanks again guys

I see... well, your control room will be very cramped since it will basically be only 3m x 3m. Unfortunate that the other room is not for you. Perhaps John will have advice on whether you should even wall mount your monitors - you may need to use only nearfields and move your desk forward I would think. What monitors are you using?

Hi Again unfortunatly I can't gett any more room so I'm stuck with this to work out .. The space is under my house which is a small workers cottage hence the small space..I think I'm going to go with a variation on the plan you drew John..
Now i've just got to find the time to build it ...
Also John just curious to know which software you use for your plans ??
Thanks for all your help..
