Odd Diffuser....

Post by John Scott »

I have a small home studio that I finally have the time to treat.
I'd like to make it mix friendly more than anything. I have a bunch of sweet rooms to record in, but no good room for mixing.
I'm currently building absorbers for bass because I already know it's an issue.
I was given 2 QRD diffusers that were built by students at our local conservatory.
They have 25 wells....
What's the deal?
I thought that it had to be prime numbers?
There are 25 1 inch wells 1/4 inch dividers and they are 5-3/4 inches deep.

Does the improper design effect (or is it affect?) the diffusion in a negative way?
I know it must be diffusing but it may be scattering things in a bad way.....I don't know.
Any help for the new guy is greatly appreciated.

Well, you didn't provide enough info to go on for starters, and with that haughty grubby entitlement attitude you probably wouldn't be getting much help anyway...

This place is run by volunteers for free. We help out at no cost as much as we can. But there's around 16,000 members and less than a dozen people actually answering questions. If you don't like waiting in line like everyone else, then maybe you should consider hiring one of the designers here, instead of bitching about the lousy service provided to you AT NOT COST from well-meaning volunteers...

Think carefully before you reply...
