Vocal Booth Build

Post by Sent4th »

First time posting, this is a great forum with lots of good information and suggestions.

I've search the forum, but I could find an answer to my question concerning the walls of a vocal booth build.
I'm building a vocal booth in my home studio. The booth will be 4'-0" wide, 6'-0" deep and 7'-6" high. A door will be on the 4'-0" wall and a 32" X 32" window on the 6'-0" wall.

My question: Can I get great isolation if I mount 1/2" soundboard to a 2X4 wall along with (2) two 5/8" sheetrock? Green glue or acoustics silicon in between each sheet. Roxul Safe 'n' Sound insulation in the air space.

This is my outer layers with a lite carpet as a finished covering on the outside walls. The inside walls of the 2X4 will have the same layers even the ceiling as the outside except the finished covering will be 2" acoustics foam. This will be on all the interior walls including the ceiling. The floor will have a thick carpet over 3/4" plywood mount on 2X4.

Is this a good isolation build?

I posted this topic in "Studio Construction", but have not received a response. I must have posted in the wrong section.

I will appreciate any comments on this build.

Thanks
