Ro's Rehearsal/studio rooms. [stage: build]

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Totally, X!
I love superchunkabsorbers, they sound cool and are easy to build.

Next: speakerstands with low-end corner absorber.
Here's the design, gonna start building those darn things this week.

Don't worry, will add absorption *behind* the speakers as well. It's not in the design, yet. Stands will be placed underneath the previous shown cornerabsorber.

untill later, ro.

Speakerstands - done.
Hai my friends, nice to see you tune in. Due illness and other *nice* interruptions the speakerstand built took longer than I hoped for. Oh well. :)

I've shown you the design in my previous post, here's the actual built. It's *almost* a carbon copy of the design :) Yeah, I tweaked the design a bit before cutting wood.

Without further delay, here are them holy pix!

Enjoy.

Some more construction details of those lowendabsorberpillarsthingies in the corner that wrap around the ventilation system stuff.
We built removable panels for easy access on maintenance jobs. It's exactly how we build the speakerstands I showed earlier. It's a cage, it's sturdy and musician-proof. I hope :)

The pix will speak for them selfs, enjoy!

The ceiling is the limit
Minor update, added trimming to the ceiling. Finishing details. Trims are mainly glued with a few screws to hold the shizl in place. Those are nifty screws :)
pix? sure!

Those are nifty screws
Yeah, but they might cause edge diffraction at very high frequencies....  :horse: 8) (ya know me! I always gotta find SOME nit to pick! :) )

Seriously, that looks pretty neat.... So how close are you to FINISHING? When is the grand inauguration?

ooh, darn! I totally forgot to test those screws for acoustic properties. Thanx Stu, gonna reject them and put in some PROPER ones. You know, those special brand screws named "acoustic screw". Expensive but effective. Worth every penny. :finger:

I hope to finish THIS ROOM in, oh say, september 2013. YEAH!

Don't forget the acoustic door knobs, too!

And the acoustic paint, of course... :)

September, ehhh? Cool! I might even have to be in the Netherlands around then, possibly, ... so if that works out, you might find me knocking on your door... :)
