Just finished the design of my doors. It's close to the design I posted here: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... =2&t=12664
Total weight is about 85kg. I calculated I need four "paumelle" (dunno if that's also the international name) hinges to carry the beast. These hinges are ball bearing ones. The door perimeter will be sealed with rubber and magnetic seals.

Letting the air flow
Aight, started installing ductwork for the fresh air supply. Three floors witch three live rooms will be attached to the air supply system. The top floor holds the fans and controllers. Duct work goes through the roof where air will be sucked in and blown out. It's an active-active system. That means both inbound and outbound duct work will have a fan to control the overall airflow.

There's silencers on both side of the walls. On the inside of the live rooms air can be controlled individually and can be heated till max 16 degr cel (in case of cold winters, remember we do not have heat-radiators in the building)

Thanx! Soft-padding has to be clued yet, the box itself is 22mm MDF. Enough mass to compensate for the holes in the walls.

Correct, they are in-line fans. One for inbound, one for outbound. As I said, it's a active-active system. Both fans are controlled with the same speed switch (two speed). When the system is complete it will be tuned. I'll look up the exact models if yer interested. They are powerful enough to handle air-supply for three rooms.

No problem: I once lived in South Africa for a few years, and had to learn Afrikaans, which is distantly related to Dutch, so I can probably follow that a bit... Although it's been many years since I last had to speak it!

Hey, hey peeps. It's DOOR time. Create a double wall with matching mass doors. two doors, twice the fun
I constructed custom doors as I designed in this thread: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... =2&t=12664

I used a piece of pine (2 by 4) as the hinge side. Added a sheet of 15mm and a sheet of 22mm MDF for the core. Sealed the whole thing with a sheet of 6mm MDF on both sides. Total mass around 90KG. Using four Paumelle hinges.

As always, I got proof it happened.

Next up: glass placement between live and control room. Already purchased the glass, two sheets of 6:8 laminated glass. 80x120cm. But more on that after my summer break.

Thanx Stu. Gonna seale it with rubber, will show you next time. Gonna be a double seal, one with a magnetic strip. Adding a automatic closer too. Hope to provide some inside on that in a few weeks. I'm about to have a 3 week holiday, starting tomorraw!

howdy, I'll update you on the doors. They're build and placed and they rock! lemme get the pix sorted out, just a moment....

alright, two heavy solid doors hanging. Added automatic closers, they are super smooth. Added cloth to close up the gap between the doors. Trims are added with rubber seals, however I do not have pictures of that at the moment (tho you can spot some on the middle pix at the top). Will provide some descent proof later. All this work was done last summer.
