I have this electronic music project with a friend and we make music in a shared space. We need to find a way to have a good monitoring room while leaving enough space for a band to rehearse.
Luckily the room is situated on top of a big warehouse where they make Live PA's and casings. This means no noise limit and we can use the workshop to build the Bass Traps etc.
I have been going trough the guidelines for posting, but most of it seemed to be aimed at construction. The hieght of the room is 250cm. The Budget is "ghetto". We will be going down the DIY road. Like mentioned before, there's a workshop that makes cases for PA's so we'll have disposal of the tools. We'd only need to buy the wool and fabric, wood etc. The ceiling is your typical workplace suspended softboard. No wool. There's no wood on the floor, just carpet.
Our question is fairly modest in that aspect. We simply want to optimize the room while respecting the situation were in; an overcrowded space.
Being 38% away from the wall is not likely feasible. We would like to know if speakers near the wall would be best practise in this case - where to place the bass traps etc etc. However if the room really needs us to be at 38% - we might need to persuade them

Although the rent is being split 50/50 - The band only comes in once a week. They need their space - there's a Drum kit, a total of 8 guitars (3 of them hanging on the wall) and loads of guitar FX in a matrix (2x big flight case). Plus 4 mic stands.
The "studio" side
Korg MS20, Juno60, Moog Little Phatty, Fender Rhodes, 81 Keys GEM, Wavedrum (on a stand). There's a double stand for large keybaords.
DAW, Desktop, 2x Monitors + stands. a little over half a meter of 19" FX.
We all need to fit that in the small space
