The general recommendation here is to use Owens Corning 703 semi-rigid fiberglass, since it comes in panels that are relatively easy to cut and handle. If you can't get that, or something acoustically equivalent, where you live, then you can use either ordinary miner wool or fiberglass insulation. In that case, look for stuff with a density of around 25 - 35 kg/m3 for fiberglass, or around 40 - 50 kgM3 for mineral wool. Do not use anything that is significantly denser than that for bass traps: it is a common misconception that "denser is better" for bass trapping. On the contrary, less dense is better.
I can't tell you much about where to buy that in the UK, but any good hardware store should have something that fits the bill.
