Post by Bryan »

Hi im confused wot to do with my rear 12'x8' wall? its 7" from the outter wall . i have two ideas?

1-two corner traps like without slats, ie the rearwall absorber but across the corner(how big sud these be?) & one triangle helmotz resonator inbetween like diagram 1

----------------------------------or----------------------------------

2- the oppisite ie: two corner slot resonators and one rear wall absorber

Please don't do that again Bryan. Thoses pics were 860K each. I couldn't retrieve no 17.

anyway - look you 've got plenty of space in the rear so why not use it. Some hangers and a slot wall would work well in that room.

Sorry again i didnt realise the size of them.
thanx for the reply.
i had tought about that but would hangers relly work better than a corner bass trap? say with 4" rigid fiberglass? because i only have 3' from th wall to the sliding door so the bigest hanger would be prob 2.5' long.

also what is an ideal depth for the slot resonator? you seem to have moved it further out.

thanx again.

That hanger size would be fine and the slot is deaper so you can go lower.
The rear wall is the best place to suck up the sound if you have the depth and you have it.

alternatively you could build Ethan's panels into the corners and then place a 703 layer over the front to stop the highs reflecting back.

sounds interesting do u mean a layer stuck right on to the the plywood?
if so how deep?

also would eathans design go lower than a standered bass trap with just cloth and 703?

thanks so much because i have to do most of this this week to get it finished ;-).

could u reccomend a size for the dept of the slot resonator?

Ok ive tought about it and have decided on eathans design for the corner and an angeled slot resonator.

heres a drawing but i need a few things clarified before i mess it up.

is 2ft wide enuff for the corner trap and will the work Across the corner if so should i seel the back like in the diagram or just seal the edges on the front so i would look like a triangle from the top?

also is the thicker the fiberglass the lower it absorbes would two layers be better than one (same for the slot resonator how thick??)

thanks for all the help
