Re: Small garden studio & control room
The block/stone wall will be part of the interior leaf for the recording room and completely separate from the control room stud work

Re: Small garden studio & control room
Draw me a picture in paintbrush....seriously...or what ever simple drawing p[rogram you have is.
Just draw the wall lines as you will see them from overhead.
I think you are OK, but let's get past "I think" and get to "I know it for a fact"

Re: Small garden studio & control room
Not how your drawing is, an outer shell of 4" concrete blocks with 4 main rooms similar shape to this picture that was posted earlier,
The middle wall of block/stone is not attached to the outer walls in any way, but is one wall of the recording space with 3 others which will be stud,
The control room will also be 4 separate stud walls so they will be room in a room,

Well, if you can not give an accurate drawing then you should ask Glenn if he can up date his current conception to infer what it is that you are having an issue with.

one option then is to flip the CR into the part I show as the LR, and make the current CR position a booth and have the new positioned CR face into the red area... or simply expand the LR into the red space and add some iso booths on either end as desired.

Re: Small garden studio & control room
Please excuse this plan it looks like something a 5 year old has done but I have never used a computer drawing program in my life,
Not to scale but this is a general idea of the shape.

Re: Small garden studio & control room
yes, but only the outside block work had to be built like that to give enough clearance round the aircon units as the building is that tight at the bottom of the garden to utilise the space as much as possible. The interior studwork is not constructed yet its looking like a 2.800m ceiling height by the way.
Am I detecting that this is bad

It makes it difficult to create symmetry in the control room - but if this is a design constraint, it is what it is.Roguejackal wrote:yes, but only the outside block work had to be built like that to give enough clearance round the aircon units as the building is that tight at the bottom of the garden to utilise the space as much as possible. Re: Small garden studio & control room
I was thinking that so wondered if I could use the space to the right of the aircon as a cupboard for mics stands etc and then treat the door in a similar way to the other side/

Re: Small garden studio & control room
A few of the pictures so far, its taking me a while as 90% of the work is being done myself

Shed is up and waterproof

Block work in the ground to get the extra ceiling height

Re: Small garden studio & control room
Possibly, but we'd need you to add dimensions to this drawing to say for sure. Can you add this? Also, can you indicate what is set in stone (already constructed) so that we know what can and can't be changed? I'd suggest you finalize your interior design ASAP before going any further with construction.Roguejackal wrote:I was thinking that so wondered if I could use the space to the right of the aircon as a cupboard for mics stands etc and then treat the door in a similar way to the other side/
Off the cuff, I'd say you might want to consider an arrangement more like the attached.

This is what is built so far, outside block work is nearly all up to wall plate height, shed is finished all bar roof tiles and exterior wood cladding
