I was ready to build a dual wall contruction studio for a church. I had a rep at Kinetics show me some things. I believe their new furring channel clips will save everyone some time, money and space.
Here is a generic design that is morphing into the final product. This will be built inside of an existing church. I was going to eat up some valuable space with double walls. I was going to bet an estimated STC60, but now I am going to get STC64, and more space, less cost.

The design concept comes from a concept by Steven Klein. He has a studio design like it posted at controlroom.com. My side walls on my sketch will actually be splayed in a bit.
I can only have one door in. I would like to have a loading dock for the recording space, but that side of the building is below grade about 4' or so.
There are no windows in my design. I do not like the "fish bowl" effect, and will have cameras and monitors. When recording Christian music, it is hard to get "into the mood" with people watching. The goal is to provide a lounge-like room for them, and a wide space for me, as I will have interns sitting three wide at the console.
This space can't have any less than STC60 or so, so having multiple doors and windows doesn't really fit. I thought that the sound lock might serve as a last choice ISO, and it would allow me to keep the traffic isolated to one side of the space.
Of course any other ideas are welcome.
