What kind of microphone do i need to record me singing? I'm making my mom a gift with me singing on a cd. What kind of microphone do i need to do this? I'm going to use audacity to have background music on the track too but im clueless otherwise.

Re: microphone do i need to record
Wow. That's kind of like asking what kind of vehicle you need to get from A to B. Ask a hundred people, and you'll get a hundred different answers. Plus it all depends on a million factors, such as your own voice and the acoustics of the room where you'll be recording, for example. ("Vehicle" could mean a bicycle, or it could mean a 747... same with mics).
That said, a good general-purpose mic that works reasonably well for most things is the good old Shure SM-58. Reasonable price, and sounds good for most singers in most locations. It ain't perfect, but it should do the job. Unless you have lots of money to spare, and you can afford a nice U47...
