Newbie Introduction

Get your "what mic?" frustration or "have you heard" out here. The language could get real okka in here mate.

Newbie Introduction

Post by Twinhit »

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post but I thought I'd say something.
Although I've had a little bit of audio recording experience, I still consider myself new to it.
I will be reading some of the posts to get better aquainted with this aspect of the audio recording field.
I am sure I will have some questions that will come up as I go along.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is!

Thank you, John.
I have much reading to do as yet and as time permits. I'll be in and out. Got a lot of stuff on the front burner at the moment and didn't want this forum to think I was a troll or something.

By the way, and I don't know if it is appropriate to ask here, but while it's on my mind, Have you or anyone else heard of floating floors as part of the studio design? If so, what are the specific objectives of including a floating floor? I am assuming mechanical vibration conduction isolation (ie foot steps and other structurally transmitted noise) if it's discussed here, I haven't seen it as yet, but again, I thought to ask while I was responding.
Thank you again for the welcome.

Aloha Kendale,
Thank you for the link, that's a whopper of information thread, if I ever saw one.
Oddly, I will be moving to Oahu, perhaps a year from now. I've lived here in SD for almost 40 years but
circumstances has arisen that are pointing me back to my home before San Diego.
I am hoping to set up a small project studio but I don't know how that will pan out, as yet.
Are you by chance on Oahu?
Anyway, Aloha and thank you for the welcome and link.

PS, do you think with all that water around the island, I should buy a boat and get a floating floor for free?

Aloha,

The story goes that the mongoose was brought in to control the growing rat population. Turns out that the mongoose were diurnal (daytime) creatures, while the rats were nocturnal.

So instead, the mongoose began wiping out the eggs of the "native" bird species.

How's that for human ingenuity?
