Hello all! I am currently in the process of building a recording studio in my block basement. Special thanks to Glenn the moderator for helping me come up with an awesome design!
I do however need some help making sure I have the standard gear.
Here's what I currently have:
Mac OS 2.0 dual core (will be buying an updated imac soon)
presonus FP10 with 10 class A preamps
Audio techniqua AT3035 studio condensor mic.
m-audio Axiom 66 midi keyboard
I have the KRK Rokit 6 CL version for studio monitors.
I run dual monitors
I have Reason/Record as my recording/sequencing interface.
This is all I have. I see studios on here that have mixing boards, rack mount compressors and EQ's. And other items.
I do know that i need some drum mics and a sure 57 for guitar. But I feel like I need a mixing board and some rack mount gear.
I am pretty new to studio design and I'm not up to par on the latest and greatest equipment and what is needed in a recording studio.
Can someone help me fit the missing pieces to my studio. I am not the richest guy out there but I am willing to spend a decent amount of money... so I'm not looking for the greatest most expensive stuff. But am looking for top of the line gear.
Thanks everyone!!
Question about gear. What gear am I missing?

one thought on the mixer http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/ProjectMixIO.html or if you don't need any IO http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/BCF2000-WH.aspx

Re: Question about gear. What gear am I missing?
Ok quick question (you know me and my questions ...lol). What is the main difference between these two mixers?
It looks like the M-audio has preamps and the Berringer doesnt?
Is that what they mean by I/O? (I'm such a newb..)
Also, it looks like I can use the Berringer one with my presonus FP10 right? And from what I see the berringer does control reason/record.

Re: Question about gear. What gear am I missing?
Awesome thanks!
What about EQ's or compressors? propellerheads Record has a very good software compressor. I hear analoge is really good because it maintains the warmth of the tracks.
Any other gear I should look out for. I am gonna be getting the berringer mixer you suggested.
I hear the sure SM7 is what everyone uses for vocals?

Aloha,
Depending if you prefer to mix in the box or out, having a control surface or not, perhaps this might be of interest?

Yeah is does. So do you think the dynamics are good enough in record? I think they sound pretty good myself.
