Re: Chile Football
YEAH!!!!!
Goodbye, Spain!!!
And if you are in Santiago, don't plan on going anywhere near Plaza Italia anytime after about 15:30: Win or loose, it is going to be CHAOS! They are expecting 50,000 fans right after the game....
(Thanks, Andre! Pity about Italy.... France was to be expected, I guess... )

Re: Chile Football
... It's still more than 2 hours until the game starts, and I can already hear people blowing vuvuzelas in the street, not far from my house

Re: Chile Football
Unfortunately, not! But the folks who play them seem to be getting really upset with the way soccer games keep interrupting their concerts......So they are not just an RSA instrument.

Half an hour till game time, and it's starting to get loud outside! You wouldn't believe what a Big Deal this is for Chile: Most schools let their kids out early, most companies either set up big screen TV's for their employees to watch, or sent everyone home at lunch time, the streets were packed with traffic an hour ago, but now they are starting to get deserted...
The entire country is grinding to a halt, just to watch 22 grown men kick a small plastic ball around a big field for two hours!!!! Go figure...

Re: Chile Football
Yeah! This is the BIG game! Chile vs. Brazil.
We lost the "other" game that Andre mentioned, but still had enough points to make it qualify for the "top 16" round. But now it is "sudden death". We have to win this in order to make it to the quarter finals... And Brazil is a formidable opponent! So thanks for the cheer-leading, Carsten!
