Resonator in MDF?

HI I am interested in the slot resonator plans on John's web page. I have 2 questions Can I make it 100% in MDF? If yes what are the advantages/disadvantages? 2nd question. Can I put a resonator in the back of my mixing position? Thanks in advance!
