Just a quick question. How do you go about fixing the slats to the frame of a slat absorber, as they're at an angle to the frame? Is it just a case of screwing them in like shown: Thanks, Gareth

I always use finish nails - but then again - I would rip the corner backer to maintain the angle and a full face fit to the slats. Rod
Whats the easiest way of doing that? Could be a bit tricky on a 2x1! Gareth

Exactly what I did. Set the angle on your table saw, set up the gate (check it a few times) and rip. I also cut the angles on the ends of my slats with a miter box so the ends of the slats are parallel with the sides of the trap. I drilled pilot holes and attached with screws, although if I were to do it again finishing nails would probably be a lot less work.
Unfortunately I don't have a table saw :( I have a mitre saw so the ends of the slats wont be a problem, but cutting a 2x1 with a circular saw might be a bit difficult! I'll see if I can find someone who has one... hmm Thanks, Gareth
My circular has a guide like that, I'm just concerned that the wood wont even be as wide as the base of the saw, and I'm a bit of a n00b really, so it might be a bit out of my depth! Hmm, this is going to be a bit of a challenge!
How about fixing it like this? Could also use glue to reinforce the pins, or would that be a bad idea?

Perhaps this is a better way of doing it? Wood is comming tomorrow so need to decide quick! Thanks again, Gareth

Hello friend . I´d like to built a slat resonator folowing the model showed in John´s DIY Wall Units. But John's diagram shows diferent pieces of timber on the face of the wall of alternating widths (100mm, 75mm, and 50mm). i'm curious as to what pattern i should alternate them i'd also like to know in what pattern i should i place the gaps between the timber (the sizes john has recommended are 6 and 12mlm) HOw should i place t gaps next to the pieces of timber, ? I´ve posted this Q in others index. I do need the right answer, Thanks!!
