Hello
I'm working on a local youth radio, wich is sponsored by the Universaty of Gent (Belgium, Europe) and we need to move from a very old trashed building to a new place. The universaty gave us a large bassement of about 2.30meters high were we can build a brand new, full equiped radio studio. The bassement is partly underground, partly nod (it's on the side of a hill) and above we have offices and on the higher floors, some student appartments. Now the manager of the radio asked me (as the tech/audio expert of the station) to see how we can make the studio right. After a long discussion we decided to go with the following plan wich include alread the basstraps for the studio space (see image). I don't know the exact measures but i believe it's not that important for the question i have.
We used to have a studio with big carpeted walls and 2 basstraps in the vocal booth and the control room. THe basstraps are rather DIY but work very wel, but we want to get rid of the carpeted walls because they collect dust. is there an other, rather cheap solution for broadband absorbtion to keep the reverb in all studio spaces under control (we want to keep some reverb on the presenters voice, but not to much). In the live booth we often let play local and other bands live on the radio, and do a kind of pa mixing in the live control room. (Soundcraft mixer + outboard, and some studio monitors to hear it)
we don't have big budgets, so a total rebuild of the place is out of question. We also don't need isolation, because we don't really have neighbours who can hear us.
for the record. We work with Neumann BCM705 dynamic broadcast microphones and headphones in the booth, and our system runs on Carmen Broadcast software and a Dateq 50 series broadcast console
If you got more questions before you can answer, feel free to shoot ...
thanks in advance and kind regards
