2"703 vs. 3" 701

hi all, im in the design phase of my project studio and trying to get prices and a budget together. i priced the oc 703 today and my supplier offered some 701 in 3" thickness for half price. my question is what is the difference? i know the 701 is half the density but if its 150% thicker than the 703 what are the trade offs? i searched and couldnt find a definite answer. any help or advice is greatly appreciated. thanks, dan b.
