Great site guys! Extremely helpful I am in the VERY early stages of planning a studio in my detached double garage this summer and I have a few quick questions before I post all of my info etc etc etc ...
Can someone (with experience) please explain the difference between a control room and a mixing room? What is the purpose of both? Are they sometimes completely seperate rooms?? Do some studio owners track and mix in the same room ? What are the advantages / disadvantages..
I am asking from the vantage point of tracking / mixing rock bands... Thanks

Control Room vs Mixing Room

Acoustically there is no significant difference. Practically, the tracking room control requires some form of visual contact with the tracking room and space for many musicians when playing back.
