Hi everybody...a quick question....really need your help!!
I am building a concrete floating floor on elastic pads for my studio....
On Tuesday we will be pouring the concrete, so i need your help with this:
I am planning to put PVC tubes in the concrete for audio wiring between the rooms...can vibrations transmit through the tubes from one room to another?
Should i do something "special" like an elastic joint of the tubes between the rooms?
I spent a lot of time (and money  ) on the floor and i wouldn't like to "destroy" it with such a stupidity...
thanks in advance
Nikodemos
Nikodemos,
Not sure, What size is the piping? There are special pvc joints you can buy that decouple the pipe. You can pack the ends with ductseal to prevent sound from chasing through the pipe.

You're using electrical PVC correct?

Yes, decouple it.
Nothing to worry too much about. At the worst you will spend 20,000 Euros more than what you had to to get what you want. You are not the first to make mistakes without knowing it, and you will not be last.
The best advice I can right know is STOP ALL CONSTRUCTION and have your plans reviewed here.
Effective sound reduction involve the details. Each one can destroy the effectiveness of all other attempts at improving isolation.

Hi there...thanks for the replies.
Actually the electrical tubes here in Greece are somrthing completelly different than the unes you mean (and i've seen a lot in this forum). To be more acurate this kind of pvc tubes simply don't exist here
So i decided to use the closest thing i found...PVC tubes with some kind of fire resistance...You see electrical plastic wiring conduits over here are maximum 40mm (and only the spiral kind) which is a bit small for 16 - 24ch multi cable...Anyway i searched for some kind of decouplers like the ones you mentioned but have no succes till now.
So i think i'll just use a pvc tube between the CR and the main live room in order to have a way to pass cables if needed in the future and audio-wire the rest of the rooms using the space between the studs.
Andre:
I've been researching this 'floating floor" subject for allmost a year now and thanks to some very nice and helping people like mr.Desart and mr.Gervais i think i'm on the right way..
My floating floor is designed to have a natural frequency of about 8-9 Hz according to the specs of the elastic pads (provided by the manufacturer) and the concrete load upon them.
if you wanna take a look it is here:
